In November 2021, Microsoft announced that it would be phasing out the Data Export Service (DES) add-on for Dynamics 365.
The service provided the ability to replicate data from Microsoft Dataverse to Azure SQL Storage in the customer’s Microsoft Azure subscription.

The functionality of Azure Synapse Link for Dataverse has become a replacement for DES, and a step-by-step instruction has been prepared to switch to it.
We know from experience that the use of replication specifically in Azure SQL Database (as in the Data Export Service functionality) has become a convenient and important element of the information systems architecture for many of our customers. Therefore, we have implemented our own development to replace DES – SMART Data Export for Dataverse.
The solution provides initial synchronization of all necessary data, and then continuously synchronizes delta changes at a rate of more than 5,000 records per minute for each table.
SMART Data Export for Dataverse performs the following tasks:
- Replication of big volume of data from Microsoft Dataverse to Azure SQL Database,
- Work even with a high frequency of data updates in the source,
- Keeping data up-to-date with the least possible delay.
