
In July 2023, Microsoft published plans for the second wave of updates for Dynamics 365 and Power Platform solutions—a selection of new features that will be available between October 2023 and March 2024. The second wave offers hundreds of new capabilities, including AI-powered tools and features that demonstrate Microsoft’s ongoing investment in digital transformation for customers and partners.
This wave of updates is based on a commitment to building applications and experiences that add value to every role by breaking down barriers between data, ideas, and people. The new features enhance the ability to make informed decisions with AI-driven analytics and actionable recommendations, simplify task and process automation, make it easy to integrate collaboration into workflow, and create low-code solutions even for amateurs.

New features in Dynamics 365
Dynamics 365 Marketing will enhance the Copilot experience, enabling marketers to quickly build new customer experiences and provide an unprecedented level of personalization in email content, images, and layouts. In addition, B2B dashboards and direct assignment of potential leads to the appropriate sales manager will unite marketers and salespeople, allowing them to act as a single team at all stages of the transaction process.
The new functionality in Dynamics 365 Sales focuses on prioritizing and managing digital sales processes with advanced sequencing tools. The changes will allow users to assign and track lead status with advanced customer distribution capabilities, providing recommendations, summarizing data, obtaining information, and performing actions in context and within the workflow.
Dynamics 365 Customer Insights, Sales, and Commerce 2023 Release Wave 2 Highlights
Viva Sales offers advanced AI capabilities such as email summarization, CRM recommendations, sales texts creation, meetings summarization and real-time sales advice. In addition, Microsoft continues to invest in the Teams collaboration environment and is creating new Copilot capabilities for sales that accelerate deal closing.
Dynamics 365 Customer Service continues to empower agents to work more efficiently with Copilot capabilities, Join me On Teams and visual enhancements of the agent workspace. The updates also include the ability to see chats and voice calls in the Inbox and personalize voice control features In addition, the voice channel, dialing module and call routing to operators with the longest waiting time will be improved.
Updates to Dynamics 365 Field Service will include new features for operators, service managers, and dispatchers. Several of the most popular requests will be implemented, such as automatic conversion of price offers into work requests, improved control and enhanced resource planning capabilities.
Dynamics 365 Finance is focused on increasing the transparency of organizational data, continuously updating accounts payable management and automating bank statements. In addition, the developers will continue to automate complex tax scenarios and electronic invoice requirements for new countries, as well as provide organizations with the ability to expand business models and make them more flexible.
Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management continues to improve and optimize business processes to provide the agility and resilience needed for businesses to thrive in an increasingly complex business environment. Sales and procurement processes will be improved, manufacturers will gain greater mobility, and warehouse processes, such as related to counting, customer returns and product receipts, will be optimized.
Dynamics 365 Project Operations invests its own resources in improving service procurement scenarios and creating project contracts. New features and scenarios in pricing models will support evolving models of the service-oriented economy. In addition, improvements to intelligent recommendations will offer employees and subcontractors suggestions based on an analysis of experience, cost, and resource efficiency.
Dynamics 365 Human Resources improves the recruiting experience with a feature-rich and intuitive interface designed for recruiters, candidates, and hiring managers. We will expand the human capital management ecosystem by integrating learning services through public APIs using Microsoft Dataverse, and we will expand our network of partners involved in payroll.
Dynamics 365 Finance, Project Operations, and Human Resources 2023 Release Wave 2 Highlights
Dynamics 365 Guides offers updates to object bindings, Azure remote rendering and availability in Microsoft 365 Government Community Cloud High. In addition, features that provide seamless integration with accounting systems and allow customers to create mixed reality workflows integrated with their business data are planned for release.
Dynamics 365 Commerce leverages artificial intelligence to make it easier to create compelling product content for e-commerce sites. New investments in B2B allow distributors to view, accept, and reject orders from a centralized dashboard, enabling B2B sellers, distributors, and buyers to work in one place.
Dynamics 365 Business Central will focus on core functionality to make it easier for companies to manage cross-company and consolidation processes across multiple environments. Microsoft continues to expand the capabilities of Copilot by further improving warehousing capabilities, creating more Power Automate templates and providing developers with tools to automate testing of related applications.
Dynamics 365 Customer Insights extends the power of Copilot so you can easily and conveniently ask questions, get answers quickly and respond immediately. New real-time data management features provide you with up-to-date information about your customers, and easy access to analytics in Dynamics 365 applications allows your team to provide a seamless, personalized experience throughout the customer’s lifecycle.
Microsoft Supply Chain Center ensures supply chain stability with improvements in key areas such as intelligent management for coordinating purchase orders, seamless collaboration with external partners through the supplier portal and Copilot. In addition, the team will introduce advanced data analytics that will enable the transition from analysis to implementation, as well as new opportunities for optimizing network inventory.

New features in Power Platform
Power BI improves the document creation experience for individual users by optimizing and unifying the Microsoft 365 experience, providing greater internet parity and enabling Power Query charts to be viewed on Power BI Desktop. For teams, the meeting and multitasking features are improved. Git integration and source control are now available for organizations to help developers maintain and collaborate on their own business intelligence solutions.
Power Apps extends Copilot to enable AI interaction, increase developer productivity, make natural language accessible to all users and provide deep analytical insights to administrators. The updates offer users modern controls and a rich collaboration experience, as well as improved support for adoption and management to enable low-code technology across the organization.
Power Pages continues to optimize the developer experience with Copilot functionality to make it easier to build websites. Managed environments will include Power Pages developer capabilities. It also simplifies the process of accessing data by easily connecting to data where it is stored today. Low-code developers can collaborate and identify the presence of other users at the same time.
Power Platform 2023 Release Wave 2 Highlights
Power Automate will continue to simplify the creation of new workflows by using natural language for cloud and desktop data flows, as well as improving process intelligence to accelerate the creation of automated and authoring services. In addition, there are plans to simplify the process of managing work at scale, introduce a unified view of activity and provide more detailed notifications about the functionality of the software product.
Power Virtual Agents will provide general availability of features such as support for multilingual bots, response and action generation, standalone interactive voice response (IVR) and IVR integration with Dynamics 365 Customer Service, as well as integration with Conversational Language Understanding. In addition, Microsoft continues to expand its product offer and introduces new capabilities for Enterprise Trust.
AI Builder will allow developers to easily process structured and unstructured documents. By utilizing GPT capabilities, responses to customer requests can be pre-generated in accordance with enterprise standards and will be available for human verification, allowing creators to easily review and improve content that is automatically generated by intelligent copilots.
