  • MTI hi-tech distribution has implemented the biggest project in Ukraine for the transition to a new ERP system from Microsoft

    MTI hi-tech distribution is one of the largest multi-vendor importers and distributors in Ukraine in the field of hi-tech equipment and innovative solutions.

The company started its activities in 1991. Rapid growth and development made it necessary to automate work processes. The introduction of various services did not cover all business needs: additional integrations were required. As a result, the working platform began to resemble a patchwork quilt. This was a signal to search for a new ERP system that would satisfy the demands of a growing business and the needs of partners, as well as would make it possible to build an integral resource management system based on a modern IT platform.

In order to modernize business processes, automate interaction with partners and improve the quality of services, the MTI hi-tech distribution team decided to implement a new ERP system. After evaluating proposals available in the market, the company opted for Microsoft Dynamics NAV. SMART business became the partner in ERP system deployment.

  • System choice, implementation, and deployment

    One of the decisive criteria when choosing a Microsoft Dynamics NAV system was the ability to implement seamless coverage with the typical functionality of all business processes of the company, as well as to combine document flow, accounting and finance in one solution, with due allowance to the Ukrainian localization.

    The Microsoft Dynamics NAV implementation project consisted of the stages of development, Go-Live and subsequent functionality extension. The first launch of the new ERP system took place on January 1, 2020. Due to careful planning, the transition to the new platform did not affect the main business processes of the company and did not lead to delays in interaction with partners and customers.

    By September 2020, modules for pricing, management accounting, internal and external reporting, KPI reporting, customer portal, and purchase planning were implemented in MTI hi-tech distribution. The functionality of internal approval and change control was launched.

    In the process of deploying Microsoft Dynamics NAV, MTI hi-tech distribution organized webinars for customers and employees and created video guides for quick training in work with updated interfaces and features, which facilitated transition to a new system of work for a large number of external users.

    At this stage, МТІ continues to introduce new Microsoft Dynamics NAV functionality and develop customer interaction scenarios.

    For customers

    According to Dmytro Nahornyi, CIO of MTI hi-tech distribution and project manager on the customer’s part, one of the most important tasks of the project was to build a reliable basis for expanding the list of tools for digital interaction with customers: creating the most transparent, simple and efficient process of obtaining information about the current assortment, work with orders and service.


    “We are developing a new Customer Portal, which will allow MTI customers to create orders, check prices and see product stock, track settlements, debts, order and return history in real time. With its help, we plan to improve not only the accuracy of data management, but also to control sales, case processing and compensations to customers”.

    This approach fosters relationships with customer-buyers and sellers.

    Dmytro Nahornyi also noted that as part of the project, an API integration with customers was created, which allowed dealers to create purchase orders in their internal systems with the actions displayed in Microsoft Dynamics NAV. Such integrations greatly facilitate interaction processes and increase the number of orders.
